CES Donates All Heating Propane to Pets Alive in Middletown, New York
By donating propane for all their buildings we’re helping Pets Alive save money that they can better use elsewhere. You know that Combined Energy Services LOVES animals of all kinds. We support a variety of shelters & rescues across our service area. When we discovered Pets Alive in Orange County heated their buildings with propane, it was only natural that we help.
President & Chairman of the Board Dr. Joseph D’Abbraccio, DVM met Mike Taylor at an event in Sullivan County. A veterinarian with Catskill Veterinary Services, PLLC in Rock Hill, NY, Dr. Joe invited Mike to visit the Pets Alive location in Middletown. Mike visited with Executive Director Becky Tegze and Development Director Mary Ann Bopp for a tour of the grounds.
“I was really impressed with their operation,” Taylor said. “They not only save animals but work with the most difficult to place – the ones that have behavior issues or illnesses – to help them get adopted.”
Pets Alive is a no-kill animal rescue, located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about 1 1/2 hours from New York City. Their mission is to improve the lives of companion animals everywhere by any means possible, including rescue, adoption, advocacy, collaboration, intervention, and education.
Originating from a near tragedy, Sara Whalen founded Pets Alive after an abandoned Gold Retriever likely saved her son Adam. It has grown into one of the oldest no-kill organizations in the United States. It was one of the first retirement homes for NYC carriage horses and rescued horses from the racing and competitive show industries. Animals at Pets Alive include dogs, cats, and farm animals. Many of the animals at Pets Alive are older, have special needs or require special care.
Pets Alive offers many programs to assist the community with their animals and animal related issues. Programs include:
- Adoptions
- Community Outreach
- Humane Education Program
- Hospice
- Pet Retention
- TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) of community cats
- Pet Chow Pantry
- And much more!
“We are truly honored and touched by this amazing donation and new partnership with Combined Energy Services,” said Becky Tegze, Executive Director at Pets Alive. “We can’t thank them enough for their support.”
