Combined Energy Services offers both ethanol free gasoline and off-road diesel at our Monticello gas station.
Everything from chain saws to boat engines run best when fueled with ethanol free gasoline. You will find that manufacturers of small engine equipment routinely recommend ethanol free gasoline be used in their products.
There are several reasons to use ethanol free gasoline in your small engines. According to Husqvarna “gasoline with ethanol separates while being stored. The 2 stroke oil remains bonded to the gasoline but not to the ethanol. This leads to poor lubrication, performance issues and costly repairs over time.”
Additionally, “Ethanol will start to absorb water, leading to poor engine performance. Ethanol is also an excellent solvent. It will dissolve plastic, rubber, fiberglas and much more, potentially causing serious problems to small engines.”
We also offer off-road diesel for use in construction vehicles, agricultural use and other types of off-road equipment not used on the roads. Off-road diesel is often times referred to dyed diesel as a result of the red dye that is added. Dyed diesel doesn’t include road fuel taxes in it’s price and is typcially a cheaper option for off-road equipment. Regular on-road diesel is a clear fuel that has a green dye added where as the off-road variety has the red dye that makes it easy for taxing authorities to see.
