You know that Combined Energy Services LOVES animals of all kinds. We support a variety of shelters & rescues across our service area. Last year CES decided to help Pets Alive in Orange County in a big way.

After contact from President & Chairman of the Board Dr. Joseph D’Abbraccio, DVM, CES Manager Mike Taylor took a big step forward for the shelter. “The decision was made to provide propane to their various buildings,” said Taylor. “We placed propane tanks throughout their facility and donated the propane needed to keep the animals warm.”

This donation of propane amounted to a $9,260 donation to Pets Alive over the course of the year. It allows them to spend their donations to provide care for all kinds of animal, including abused or neglected farm animals. Recently, they took in a herd of goats that were so neglected three of them died.

Pets Alive is a no-kill animal rescue, located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about 1 1/2 hours from New York City. Their mission is to improve the lives of companion animals everywhere by any means possible, including rescue, adoption, advocacy, collaboration, intervention, and education.

Originating from a near tragedy, Sara Whalen founded Pets Alive after an abandoned Gold Retriever likely saved her son Adam. It has grown into one of the oldest no-kill organizations in the United States. It was one of the first retirement homes for NYC carriage horses and rescued horses from the racing and competitive show industries. Animals at Pets Alive include dogs, cats, and farm animals. Many of the animals at Pets Alive are older, have special needs or require special care.
