Supporting organizations that work tirelessly to protect and care for animals is near and dear to Combined Energy Services heart. Since 2015, we have made animal shelter operations a little easier with donations of heating fuel.

Non-profit organizations have really struggled over the last several years and animal shelters saw their share of hardships. From a lack of donations to natural disasters a huge numbers of animals have been relinquished to shelters. Keeping up with their care is no small feat.
Major figures (2024 data):
- In 2024, approximately 5.8 million dogs and cats entered shelters and rescues in the U.S. (ASPCA)
- Of those, around 4.2 million were adopted in 2024. (ASPCA)
- The number of animals euthanized in shelters in 2024 was approximately 607,000, which is about 8% of intake. (ASPCA)
- Intake has declined 11% since 2019 (about 735,000 fewer animals) for shelters/rescues. (Shelter count statistic)
- Roughly 60% of animals entering shelters in 2024 were strays; ~29% were owner surrenders. (ASPCA)
At Combined Energy Services (CES) we do our part to keep animals warm in the winter without placing a huge burden on their caretakers. Since 2015, CES has donated over $100,000 in heating fuel and equipment to three local shelters: Sullivan County SPCA (NY), Pike County Humane Society (PA), and Pets Alive (NY).
Our donations of heating fuel allow the shelters to spend their hard earn funds on food, medical interventions, and other necessary items to keep pets safe while waiting for their forever homes. Even with our donations, these shelters can still use a variety of supplies to make their jobs easier. Cleaning supplies, pet food, bedding, and paper towels are all needed donation requests. Please check each individual locations requests for the exact items they need.
Through your patronage of CES, we can continue to donate heating fuel. Thank you for your continued support. Please consider supporting these and other shelters throughout the region.
If you are able, please join us in supporting these organizations:
