Propane Service
How do I order propane?
Call our office at 800-874-1975.
What are your delivery methods?
CES has two acceptable delivery methods:
- Automatic Delivery – Deliveries are made on a period schedule or a degree day based system. Automatic Delivery is a free service offered to all customers. The service is merely intended to assist customers from running out of fuel. Being on automatic delivery is not a guarantee of never running out of fuel. There are many variables, such as increased fuel consumption, issues in unattended homes and inclement weather, which make such guarantees impossible. Typically, we try to deliver when you tank is at 30%.
- Customer Requested Delivery – (will call deliveries) The customer calls for deliveries. CES must be notified 5-7 working days before the desired delivery date. We recommend that you order fuel when your tank gauge reads 30%. If you run out before we are in your area there are delivery fees that will apply. Delivery fees after hours and on weekends are more than during working hours.
Is there a minimum delivery?
There is also minimum delivery of 150 gallons or fill tank for those less than 150 gal capacity. Requests for short deliveries are subject to a $95 delivery fee. This does not apply to our automatic delivery customers. We encourage all customers to go on automatic/keep full deliveries and to use our convenient 12-month BUDGET PAYMENT PLAN which will spread your bills out evenly.
What happens if I run out of fuel?
If a customer runs out of gas the system must be pressure tested (leak checked) prior to resuming service. This action is classified as a billable service call and will be charged our prevailing hourly rate during normal business hours and an overtime rate after normal business hours.
Propane Tanks & Equipment
I’ve never used propane before. What do I need to know about a propane tank?
To own or to lease? That is the question. But the answer might actually surprise you. Most propane customers in the U.S. lease their tank(s) from a supplier. There are a variety of valid reasons for this. Still there are individuals who desire to own their tanks. Read this article and it will explain the pros and cons of leasing vs. ownership.
What size tank do I need?
That will depend on the amount of propane you are going to use. Are you using propane for the whole house – heat, hot water, cooking – or is it for a generator? There are quite a few factors that go into determining your tanks size. It’s best to have a sales person stop by to determine your needs. Contact us at 800-874-1975 or complete this form.
How do I read my tank gauge?
We recommend placing your order when your tank’s gauge is at 30% for propane or at 1/3 for home heating oil. Additionally, we require at least 5 – 7 working days’ notice. CES does our best to deliver to as many will call customers as possible, but our automatic delivery customers take priority.
Please note that if you allow yourself to run out of fuel and a truck is taken off its designated route there is a hefty off-route fee.
Propane Safety
If You Smell Gas
- Exit the building, without using the telephone or cell phone, operating any electrical switches, lighting any matches or smoking materials.
- If possible, turn off the gas at the container or meter valve.
- Call 911 from a neighbor’s home.
- DO NOT re-enter the building until emergency responder tell you it is safe to do so. Your marketer is required to respond in case of an emergency.
- Get your system checked. Call 800-874-1975 to report the issue and have a service tech come out.
How can I prepare my tank for an emergency?
Living the Northeast, we are subject to a variety of emergency weather situations and natural disasters that we must prepare for such as:
- Wildfire
- Flooding
- Severe Thunder Storms & Hurricanes

How do I light my pilot lights?
Some things are best left to a professional, and that includes lighting the pilots on your propane appliances. Part of our ongoing safety commitment to our valued customers is discouraging them from do-it-yourself activities such as this. Please call your local CES office or contact a qualified technician when you need to re-light a pilot.
