With winter’s cold temps, it doesn’t take long for your home’s pipes to freeze & break. This can cause endless damage if the heat goes off for any reason – including running out of heating oil or propane. We recommend all homes utilize the low temp sensors & alarms. These can be purchased either from your trusted home monitoring company or online, such as the Nest thermostat that works with wifi and your smartphone. These invaluable monitors notify YOU or your alarm provider long before the home freezes if the temperature drops below your set level.
If you are a CES customer and provide us with access to your home, you can call us, and we will check on your heat/propane situation. CES keeps the keys/codes to hundreds of homes in our secure files, so if you are notified that the heat goes off, you can contact us. With prompt notification, a CES service tech can access your home, after your call, long before your pipes freeze. As an option, many homeowners have chosen to utilize a standard ‘real estate’ combination key lockbox outside their home to store a key and simply pass along that 4 digit code to our staff to gain access as needed in the event of a loss of heat regardless of the time of day.
Also, please remember that while automatic delivery ensures that you are a high priority fill, it does not guarantee that you won’t run out of fuel. Too many variables go into your energy consumption to make that promise. Outside/inside temperatures along with the energy efficiency of your home and heating system are factors that play into your energy use. Be mindful of this as weather conditions fluctuate and keep an eye on your tank’s gauge. We do our best based on your past consumption history but changes in your usage or abnormal temps are impossible for us to predict.
